Solid Timber Painted Shaker Symphony, Solid Quartz Ceaserstone Worktops
Kitchen Features
This charming cottage needed some TLC. The owner purchased the house knowing that the kitchen would need updating and chose Coalville Kitchens to undertake the design and install of this delicate project. It was important to the client and our design consultant that we kept the charm and character at the heart of the process. Exposed beams, Limestone flooring, low ceilings, and solid brick mantle were already in place so we needed to sympathetically create a design that would make everything feel like it was supposed to be there.
We were very lucky in this case as this brilliant client had incredible design knowledge and knew how to work with different materials to ensure that we got a very modern updated kitchen, packed with brilliant appliances that gave us a very usable space whilst at the same time keeping a timeless classic feel to the new space.
The Ivory wood grain shaker style door was the perfect choice to create this, a classic finish that will look just as good in 20-years’ time. Having made the decision to have solid quartz (the client does a lot of cooking) it was then a case of deciding what colour we should go for on the work surfaces. A dark worktop would have made a big impact and also created a nice contrast with the units, but we were concerned about the low ceilings and how a dark worktop could make the room feel small and low on light. Having played around with different samples it was decided light quartz would give the ideal blend with the ivory units and in turn create a modern light space.
The kitchen incorporates a Siemens induction hob, extractor fan, oven, combination microwave, warming drawer, and dishwasher. The utility room also incorporates extra hidden food storage with a built-in 50/50 fridge-freezer with the tumble dryer sitting on top of the washing machine to save space.
A brilliant project to be involved with from start to finish, this was a project that kept evolving in design even as we were carrying out the install, this is something we will always accommodate knowing that the final finished kitchen needs to be perfect in every way. This one is just that! Well, the dog thinks so!
